Want More Relaxed? Do Not Save Yourself Stress


Share with others, whether pleasant or not, is the key to happy. A new study from the University of Southern California's Marshall School of Business in Los Angeles to unveil, stress is not a flavor that should be saved for yourself, share them with others can ease fears.

The study, published in the journal Social Psychological and Personality Science shows, dividing the stress with someone who has a similar emotional reactions can lower stress levels. Levels of stress can be even more downhill than share it to other people who have never had the same experience.

In this study, the researchers measure conditions the emotion, the stress hormone cortisol levels, and threatened inner sense of 52 volunteer women. The way is by requiring volunteers to prepare and deliver a speech that was recorded.

Volunteers then divided pairs to discuss their feelings towards stressful situations they have experienced. In particular, feeling the stress of facing a speech that they must undertake.

The researchers found, when couples have similar emotions, conditions that will help each individual to resist high stress levels. They say, these findings can be useful for those who stress due to work.

The Chairman of the study Sarah Townsend, Assistant Professor of management and organization at the USC Marshall School of Business, said, for example, when you have to work on the presentation of work that is important for large projects, more or less you will feel threatened and subjected to high level of stress.

"But by dividing the stress on the flavor of a co-worker who also suffered the same emotional condition, your fear will diminish and you are more relaxed in completing your assignments," pungkas Townsend.
